Sonnenkogel-90d-s5

View angle=90°, sun altitude=30°; sun setting behind a mountain at 15h07 on 10.Mar 1997 from Virtual Innsbruck. Seen from a height of 990m above sea level. This image visualizes the effect of Mie scattering due to steam within the atmosphere, visible by the yellow-bright halo around the sun and in front of the mountain. The steam is modelled to be of equal density as the atmosphere at sea level (steamness=100%) but to exponentially decrease faster by a factor of 2 (steamgradient=2) than the clear atmosphere. The forward Mie scattering parameter is set to 88% in this simulation.
